Cosplay Photography FAQ – Everything about your shoot with IgnisInfinity_Creative

  • Short answer: Yes and no. I shoot both complete beginners and experienced cosplayers—your skill level or how "finished" your cosplay is doesn't matter to me. Everyone is welcome to see if we are a good match. What is decisive for me:

    • The Click: Do our energies vibe well together? Does it feel safe and comfortable for both of us?

    • Style & Vision: I always ask to see some photos of your cosplay beforehand (WIP/progress photos are perfectly fine!). This helps me get a feel for the style and whether it aligns with my artistic vision.

    • Professionalism & Safety: To ensure my professionalism, I will always and exclusively ask for cosplay-related photos. I will never ask for photos that are uncomfortable, inappropriate, or irrelevant to the artistic concept.

    • Cosplay not finished yet? That is absolutely no problem! It’s about the general impression and whether we can create something epic together.

Note: In accordance with my Terms & Conditions (Art. 5), I reserve the right to refuse concepts that do not align with my artistic vision or personal values (such as political or inappropriate expressions). We will, of course, always discuss this openly.

  • Not at all! I love helping new cosplayers with posing, facial expressions, and finding the perfect angles to make your costume shine.

    No experience? No problem!

As long as the vibe is right and a safe environment is guaranteed, we’re good to go. We’ll take all the time you need to make sure you feel comfortable and confident in front of the lens.

  • Yes, strictly. I do not accept shoots with individuals under the age of 18. This is a firm boundary to ensure my comfort, safety, and professionalism.

    • Identification: On the day of the shoot, I reserve the right to request a valid form of identification.

    • Consequences: If it appears at the start of the shoot that you are a minor, the session will be cancelled immediately. In accordance with my Terms & Conditions (Art. 1), no refunds will be issued for the deposit or any other costs incurred.

  • Artistic Boundaries & Focus

I am quite open-minded, but I maintain a few firm boundaries to keep the environment safe, comfortable, and "drama-free" for both of us:

    • Age: As mentioned before: strictly 18+. No exceptions.

    • No Political or Controversial Focus: I photograph characters, not statements.

      • What is allowed: A character that happens to have political elements within their story (e.g., Senator Armstrong from Metal Gear). Military or historical cosplays with realistic patches that belong to the costume are fine—it's part of the character's context.

      • What is not allowed: Shots centered around political flags, slogans, or symbols that turn the photo into a political statement or debate. I avoid this to keep the focus on creativity and prevent unnecessary drama.

    • No Full Fursuits: Nothing but respect for the furry community, but full anthropomorphic suits do not inspire me creatively. Therefore, I do not accept shoots for full suits. I am open to hybrid cosplays or elements where the person/character is still clearly recognizable.

    • General Vibe: As long as the energy matches and the concept is respectful, I am open to a lot!

Not sure if your concept is a borderline case? Just send me a message with your idea and some photos. We can then see together if it fits within my artistic vision. In accordance with my Terms & Conditions (Art. 5), I reserve the right to refuse concepts, but I am always happy to discuss this beforehand to see if we are a match!

  • For new cosplayers (or if we haven’t worked together before), the answer is yes; I generally do not shoot one-on-one. I want the environment to feel 100% safe and comfortable for both of us.

    • Bring someone along: I highly encourage you to bring a trusted companion (friend, partner, or fellow cosplayer). In accordance with my Terms & Conditions (Art. 3), one support person is always welcome, provided they do not interfere with the creative flow.

    • No companion available? If you cannot bring someone yourself, please let me know. I can often arrange for a trusted second cosplayer or assistant from my own network to be present. We will then schedule the shoot for a time that works for everyone.

    • Returning clients: For cosplayers I have worked with multiple times and know well, a chaperone is usually not required. However, please note: if either of us feels more comfortable with someone present, it is always encouraged to bring someone!

  • As a rule: no. I generally do not create or provide BTS content, especially if I would be featured in it. I prefer to stay entirely behind the lens.

    • Privacy & Comfort: This is a conscious choice for my own privacy. Due to past experiences, I am cautious about my online visibility and sharing specific location or date details.

    • Can I take my own BTS footage? If you want to take casual footage (such as phone photos of the setup, your props, or fun moments between poses), that is fine, provided that I do not appear in the footage myself.

    • Respect: Please keep any filming light and respectful of my privacy. In accordance with my Terms & Conditions (Art. 3), making professional recordings of the process or the photographer without explicit permission is prohibited.

    • Safety First: For the same reasons, I always ask to see you in costume (or view your portfolio) before finalizing a booking. This helps me feel secure and comfortable about our collaboration.

    • Discussion: Is BTS content essential for you? Let’s talk about it beforehand. We might find a way to capture the atmosphere without crossing my personal boundaries.

  • Very relaxed! We work at a pace that feels comfortable for both of us. Usually, the process follows these steps:

    1. The Request: You fill out the booking form or send me a message telling me a bit about yourself and the cosplay(s) you are excited about.

    2. Getting to Know Each Other: If you have (WIP) photos, please show them! We’ll discuss ideas, locations, and dates, and see if our energies click during this intake process.

    3. The Booking: If we both feel good about it, we’ll pick a date. The booking is official after the 50% deposit. At this point, we also finalize the presence of a chaperone (brought by you or arranged by me).

    4. Check-in & Boundaries: Shortly before the shoot, we’ll do a final check-in. We’ll discuss outfits and props, but most importantly: your boundaries.

      • Discussing Boundaries: I’ll ask you to clearly state any 'no-gos' or poses that make you uncomfortable. This ensures a safe atmosphere on the day itself so we can fully focus on the character.

    5. The Shoot: We’ll make it a great day! We don't watch the clock strictly; as long as the vibe is good, we’ll take the time needed to get the best results.

  • I am open to both — it really depends on the vibe and the concept!

    • Paid Shoots: While I love collaborating on creative projects, I offer paid packages for those looking for that extra bit of certainty and quality. The benefits are:

      • Priority & Planning: You get priority when picking a date, and we agree on a fixed delivery deadline of no more than 30 days (as per Art. 6).

      • Full Focus: I take extensive time for manual post-processing to make your photos as beautiful as possible.

      • Accessible: If a full package feels like a big investment at once, we can arrange to pay in installments—for example, per set of delivered edits.

    • TFP (Time For Print): If we are friends or you have a unique creative concept that you are incredibly excited about, TFP is certainly negotiable. I love working on passion projects where we both grow creatively! Because I invest a lot of time in manually editing every photo, I review each request to see if the concept fits my current style and schedule.

In short: Have a great idea? Share it with me, and we’ll see what works best for both of us. Everything is negotiable, so feel free to send me a message!

  • I always try to be accommodating, but please keep in mind that a reserved date means I have to turn down other requests. To keep everything fair and professional, I follow these guidelines:

    The Basic Rules

    • Booking & Deposit: A booking is only finalized upon receipt of a non-refundable 50% deposit. The remaining balance must be paid before the final photos are delivered.

    • Age: Shoots are strictly 18+. Please bring a valid ID; if you are a minor, the shoot will be cancelled immediately without a refund.

    • Cancellation by you: Let me know as soon as possible. If you cancel within 48 hours of the shoot, the deposit is forfeited (in accordance with Art. 2).

    Emergencies & External Factors

    • Illness or Emergency: Genuine emergencies are exceptions. Be honest and communicate clearly, and we will find a suitable solution together.

    • Bad Weather or Strikes: In case of heavy rain, storms, or public transport strikes, rescheduling is a legitimate option.

    • Please Note: Because preparations (such as scouting and planning) have already taken place, no refunds are given for cancellations due to external factors. Instead, the shoot will be moved to a new date.

    • Preparation: Shortly before the shoot, we will check the forecast together and look into backup plans (such as an indoor location).

If I have to cancel (Rare) Should I need to cancel due to unavoidable reasons (such as illness), I will notify you as early as possible. In that case, we will either reschedule or you will receive a full refund of your deposit.

  • I am quite flexible—small adjustments are usually no problem as long as you let me know in advance (or as soon as possible on the day itself, as we all know how unreliable public transport can be. :)).

    • Major changes or rescheduling: Please communicate this in time, and we will find a new slot together. I respect everyone's time (yours, mine, and the chaperone's), so clear communication is essential.

    • Punctuality: Being on time allows us to make the most of the shoot, especially regarding natural light. If you are significantly late without notice, we may have to shorten the session (as per Art. 3).

    • Not a clock-watcher: I’m not the type of person who constantly checks the time. I always build extra space into the schedule for costume repairs or simply because we’re in a great creative flow and want to keep shooting!

In short: Let’s keep it relaxed and transparent—let me know about any changes early, and we’ll make it work together!

  • Yes, of course—bringing a friend or fellow cosplayer is more than welcome! This often leads to fun, natural duo-shots. You can choose solo shots, duo photos, or a mix. Just let me know during the planning phase which vibe you’re going for.

    • If I bring a chaperone: When I arrange for a second cosplayer or assistant to join for safety/comfort, that person receives a set of photos as a thank-you for their time. This does not affect your package; you will still receive the full amount of agreed-upon photos. Their extras are simply a token of appreciation from me.

    • If you bring a companion: If you would like an extensive set together with your companion in addition to your solo shots, we can discuss adding extra edited files to your package for a small fee.

This ensures everything stays fair and focused on great energy and results!

  • Preparation is key! Here is a handy checklist for your shoot day:

    • Your full cosplay: Including an "emergency kit" with spare parts like pins, glue, or safety pins for quick on-site repairs.

    • Comfortable clothing: For traveling or changing (depending on the location's facilities).

    • Props & (Replica) weapons: Only bring non-functional and safe props. Please note: according to the terms (Art. 4), you are fully responsible for the safety, legality, and transport of your props.

    • Reference photos: Images of the character, specific poses, or shots you definitely want to capture.

    • The extras: Water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a power bank.

Your Well-being & Accessibility It is important to me that you feel comfortable. Communication is essential:

    • Boundaries: Let me know in advance what you are and aren't comfortable with (e.g., specific poses or physical contact for adjusting clothing). I respect your artistic and personal boundaries at all times.

    • Accessibility: Do you have specific needs, such as chronic fatigue or mobility limitations? Please let me know! I am happy to adjust the pace of the shoot and the choice of location accordingly.

    • Breaks: We can always take a break whenever needed; your well-being is the priority.

  • The number of edited photos depends on the chosen package or our prior agreement. We set clear expectations beforehand to ensure everything feels fair and customized.

    • Packages & Quality: My price list (Light, Ignite, Inferno) indicates a range for the number of photos per session. I personally select the best shots to guarantee the highest cinematic quality (as per Art. 5). You will receive only carefully edited, high-resolution JPGs; RAW files are never provided.

    • Delivery: Photos are delivered via a secure link (such as Google Drive).

      • Paid shoots: Guaranteed delivery within 30 days after full payment (Art. 6).

      • TFP: Delivery timelines are flexible and depend on current projects.

    • The "Inspiration Bonus": Occasionally, when the creative energy is high, I might surprise you with extra edited photos beyond the agreed amount. This is a gift from my creative process and not a standard guarantee.

    • Additional Edits: Would you like more photos edited after the final delivery? This is possible as an add-on (€20 basic / €50 advanced per photo). Please note that these additional orders fall outside the standard 30-day priority window.

  • As a rule: no. I generally do not provide unedited or RAW files. In accordance with my Terms & Conditions (Art. 6), you will only receive the final, edited JPG files.

    • Why this policy? I invest a great deal of passion into tailoring each edit to the character and the story we are telling. Post-processing is half of the artistic process; it creates the cinematic look that defines my work.

    • No personal filters: According to my terms (Art. 7), editing the photos yourself or applying filters is not permitted. This policy protects the quality of my portfolio and the integrity of your results.

    • Exceptions? If you have a very specific reason for needing RAW files (e.g., for an external graphic project), this must be explicitly agreed upon in advance during the planning phase. In almost all other cases, I exclusively deliver the polished versions designed to make your cosplay shine.

Thank you for your understanding—this policy is in place to guarantee you the best possible results!

  • because I use photoshop and lightroom i only use features exclusively for technical optimization, not for the creative process.

    • What I do: In Lightroom and Photoshop, I utilize AI-supported tools for technical tasks such as noise reduction, lens corrections, and smart masking to maximize photo quality.

    • What I don't do: Creative effects (such as fire, magic, and atmosphere) are hand-drawn using a tablet. This ensures that every photo remains a unique piece of craftsmanship with a personal touch.

    • Your role (AI Restriction): In accordance with the Terms & Conditions (Art. 7), clients are strictly prohibited from using my photos for training AI models or for generative AI edits. Together, we protect the artistic integrity of our work.

  • As a general rule: preferably not. Just as with RAW files, I put a lot of care into the final look. Major changes (such as heavy filters or complete re-edits) can alter the artistic vision and quality we created together. In accordance with the Terms & Conditions (Art. 7), editing the photos significantly without consultation is not permitted.

But... there is a fun exception! I love a good laugh. Want to create a lighthearted, funny edit just for fun?

    • Memes & Humor: Think of funny speech bubbles, playful tweaks, or a meme version of a shot. Go for it!

    • The Rules: Feel free to post these on social media, provided that you:

      1. Tag me as the original photographer (@IgnisInfinity_Creative).

      2. Make it clear that the funny edit was done by you (e.g., "My funny meme-edit of the original!").

This ensures credits are shared fairly, quality is respected, and we can all enjoy the humor. Do you have a more serious editing idea in mind? Let’s talk about it beforehand!

  • You are absolutely welcome to use the delivered photos for:

    • Personal Use: Social media, your own portfolio, and sharing with friends and family.

    • Prints & Competitions: Prints for personal use (not for sale) and entries into cosplay competitions.

Commercial Use (Sales & Sponsorships) Do you want to use the photos for profit-making purposes? Examples include:

    • Selling prints or merchandise.

    • Sponsored content (Paid partnerships).

    • Use as stock photography or other commercial publications.

In these cases, we must agree on a commercial license beforehand. I offer a very accessible option starting from €50, allowing you to sell your merch in a professional and fair manner. Let me know your plans early on, and we’ll get it sorted quickly!

Credits & Attributions I put a lot of love into my photography and editing, so credit is greatly appreciated:

    • Social Media: A mention in the caption or a tag to @IgnisInfinity_Creative. I love 'Collab posts,' but they are not mandatory!

    • Other Platforms: For competitions or portfolio sites, a credit is also appreciated; it helps others discover my work.

  • Packages include VAT and travel expenses within the Netherlands, but exclude any location rental fees or entrance tickets.

    • Location Choice: Are we shooting at a known or public spot? We’ll simply coordinate this together. If you want me to actively search for new spots, perform scouting, or handle the full coordination, you can opt for my Premium Location Surcharge.

    • Start of Work: I will begin scouting, requesting quotes, and coordinating only after this surcharge has been paid. This fee covers my time and expertise.

    • Entrance Fees: Does a location charge admission (e.g., a museum or castle)? You are responsible for the ticket costs for yourself, me, and my chaperone/assistant.

    • Reservations (Paid Locations):

      • Payment: Once a location is found and you approve the booking, the full rental price must be paid to me in advance. I will only reserve and pay the location after I have received your payment.

      • Cancellations: The scouting surcharge is non-refundable once work has commenced. Location rental costs will only be refunded to you if and to the extent that the venue owner refunds that amount to me. I follow the specific policy of the venue in these cases.

  • I understand that the "reveal" of a new cosplay is a big moment! That’s why we will always coordinate the publication of your photos together if you desire:

    • Secret Projects: Are you working on a cosplay for a specific convention, competition, or release and want to keep the photos under wraps until then? No problem. Just let me know in advance, and we’ll agree on a date to release the images.

    • My Portfolio: While I am proud of our work and love to showcase it in my portfolio, I respect your reveal moment. I will not post any photos before you have done your own reveal, unless we have agreed otherwise.

    • Spoilers: Are we shooting a character from a new game or series? I’ll make sure that captions and images don't contain major plot spoilers without a clear warning, so we don't ruin the experience for others.

    • Tagging: Once we share the images, we’ll tag each other so both our communities can admire the final result.
